Jockeying for position, senior Luca Chudoba undergoes the taxing, tricky task of predicting where the small green ball will be returned. Spying the projectile’s movement, Chudoba leaps to the right to make crushing contact with the ball.
Varsity tennis competed Tuesday, October 14 against Lake Ridge. Out of the two sets per player, the team never lost one which resulted in a landslide victory against the Eagles. Chudoba seemed to know the outcome of each match before it started.
“When we walked out we were actually looking for the players,” Chudoba said, “But then we realized that those clumsy looking people were in fact Lake Ridge Tennis.”
Legacy prepares for their Tuesday competitions by undergoing vigorous training set up by Head Coach Chad Dozier. Legacy Tennis partakes in a cardio activity dubbed “Mile Monday” where each mile time must decrease until a player reaches the desired six and a half minutes or less.
“Going into our match against Lake Ridge we felt very confident,” Dozier said. “We were on a five match winning streak and the team was in good spirit.”
Lake Ridge was Legacy’s last district match. They will play Dallas Adamson in the first round at the Area Tennis Tournament next in Ennis.
