15 Ways to Make Someone’s Day

By helping someone carry their things, you can easily brighten their day.
By helping someone carry their things, you can easily brighten their day.

Everyone can use a bit of positivity in their life. When you do something for others, not only does it make them feel good, it makes you feel pretty good too. If you don’t know what to do to make someone’s day better, refer to the simple ideas listed below.

Flash a Smile

Probably the simplest and smallest thing you can do to spread the most positivity.

Give a Compliment

Whether someone you know, or a complete stranger; praising their outfit, how they look, or just something about them can make a person feel amazing.

Write a Note

Notes take a little more effort, but it shows that someone took some time to acknowledge them.

Hug

For those closer to you, a quick hug can make everything better for a while.

Offer Gum

Gum prevails as a great gesture of kindness because most people ask for it anyways.

Pay It Forward

By paying for the person behind you in a drive thru, you might inspire them to keep it going and pay for the person behind them. Anyone’s day can be made through your small gesture.

Offer Your Help

Even if they don’t need anything, you asking them shows that you care.

Carry Something

Never let someone struggle when you have two free hands.

Send Encouraging Texts

Just letting someone know that they crossed your mind can flip their day around.

Open Doors

Believe it or not, even the common courtesy of opening doors can make a difference.

Spontaneously Bring Food

Every human enjoys free food. Enough said.

Let Someone in Line

Let someone cut in front of you. Letting go of your selfishness for a minute will go far.

Say Hi

Strike up a conversation with a stranger. You might be the only positive conversation they have all day.

Say Thanks

Thank people that normally don’t get thanked. Thank your lunch ladies, janitors, mailman, your mom, etc. To know they are appreciated could make a world of difference.

Sit Next to the Lonely Kid

Just talk to them and you never know; maybe that person could be your new best friend.

Hi I'm Becca! I love Tex Mex and my dog above all else. I'm a senior this year and I really really really want to go to UT Austin but if I don't get in pretend like I didn't say that. I procrastinate everything and I'm still super pale. I hope you enjoy the stories I write this year!
