Television and film has a unique power; it can make us laugh and cry. It can connect us emotionally to characters and those characters’ lives. Television and film can even captivate us enough to make us fall in love with the couples that are falling in love on screen. Listed below are just a sample of some of the best on-screen couples.

How They Met: Rachel Green and Ross Geller both came out of relationships that ended badly at the beginning of the show. Rachel went to live with her friend Monica and quickly became a part of Monica’s group of friends. This included Monica’s nerdy brother Ross.
What Makes Them Memorable: Ross had a crush on Rachel since high school and although he was friend-zoned by her for a long time, he never gave up his feelings.

How They Met: Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly met each other through their jobs at Dunder Mifflin, a common paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. They started out as friends but the sparks between them grew and soon enough they were walking down the aisle to be married.
What Makes Them Memorable: Jim and Pam have a sweetness about their relationship. They are best friends, yet incredibly in love with each other. They have rough days and great days and viewers can relate with them in those aspects.

How They Met: Shrek was sent by Lord Farquaad to rescue Farquaad’s bride-to-be, Princess Fiona. Fiona and Shrek make the journey back to Lord Farquaad’s castle and basically Shrek just has a lot of self esteem issues.
What Makes Them Memorable: Shrek, the rough and scary ogre, never conceived the idea that someone could love him, or even that he could love someone else. Fiona, who he later realizes is also an ogre, brings out a loving side of Shrek. They live happily ever after in Shrek’s cozy swamp.

How They Met: Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf stood among the New York City elite. They were friends, lovers and enemies all at different times of their life. But by the end of the series, they ended up together.
What Makes Them Memorable: Chuck and Blair became two of the more ruthless and cold characters on the show, which was what made them so perfect for each other. They claimed to be heartless, but loved and cared for each other. Even when things went wrong, they found their way back to the imperfect relationship they shared.
Hermione and Ron (Harry Potter)
How They Met: Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley met at Hogwarts, a school for wizards. They spent most of their free time at school hanging out with their special best friend, Harry Potter.
What Makes Them Memorable: Hermione and Ron become special to us as viewers of the films or even readers of the books. We literally watched them grow up throughout the ten year span of the movies. They have a unique relationship because it wasn’t really clear for a while that either of them had feelings for each other. In the last movie they professed their love. This proves that some relationships can come out of firm friendships.
Troy and Gabriella (High School Musical)

How They Met: Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez first laid eyes on each other when they were thrown together at a New Year’s Eve party to sing the memorable “Start of Somethin’ New.” Later they realized they attended the same high school and there were plenty more songs to be sung.
What Makes Them Memorable: High school romance has its ups and downs and even drama. The High School Musical series documents Troy and Gabriella’s innocent teenage love story. We can only hope that they stayed together through and after college.
Anna and Kristoff (Frozen)

How They Met: Anna goes to find her sister Elsa after Elsa conveniently freezes their kingdom. Anna becomes sure she has fallen in love with a guy she met named Hans. She meets Kristoff and gets him to help her find Elsa. Kristoff reluctantly helps, but grows to care about Anna.
What Makes Them Memorable: Anna and Kristoff have such an awkward air to their relationship. Sometimes in movies couples are portrayed as bold and confident, but truthfully, a lot of awkwardness coexists with love. Their relationship gives us a pure, wholesome and sweet kind of love.
