The month of October seems to revolve around Halloween, but in truth, that shows only a tiny portion of what the month has to offer in terms of local entertainment. Refer to the list below for other fun things to do this month.
Studio Ghibli Festival
Angelika Film Center will be showing films such as Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle as a part of their Studio Ghibli Festival. They will showcase the best of the Japanese animated films from Studio Ghibli throughout the month of October and you can get tickets here. Be aware that some showings will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles and some will be in English, make sure you pick a showing that you will enjoy.
Bad Jews
If you enjoy theatre and comedies, take a trip to Stage West in Dallas to see Bad Jews. This show has seen great reviews from The New York Times, although be aware that it does contain strong language. The show will go on throughout the month of October and you can buy tickets here.
Halsey
She has been around for awhile now, but her songs have only recently become popular. Her new album, BADLANDS, was released on August 28, 2015, and she will be coming to Southside Music Hall in Dallas for her BADLANDS Tour on October 8. Get tickets to this show to see her perform her new songs, like Colors and New Americana.
Cowboys Game
The Dallas Cowboys play the New England Patriots at AT&T Stadium on October 11, so you have an opportunity to see “America’s Team” do what they do. Plus, Ticketmaster will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society for every NFL ticket sold in October, so you can stock up on tickets for future games to help that cause.
Dallas Comic Con
For an event full of sci-fi, horror, anime, cosplay and gaming, attend Comic Con at Irving Convention Center on October 16 through October 18. You have the option of buying a pass for one day or a pass for the entire event. Join other fans to get autographs from famous voice actors, attend Q&A Sessions with actors or writers and a reunion of a part of The Karate Kid cast – Ralph Macchio, William Zabka and Martin Kove.
Taylor Swift
On October 17, The 1989 Tour will come to AT&T Stadium, giving you a chance to see Taylor Swift perform hits like Bad Blood and Shake It Off. Tickets seem to be scarse, so make sure to pick them up quickly, or call every radio station in hopes of winning a pair.
Mavs Run This Town 5K
This 5K will benefit the Mavs Foundation, which provides grants to other organizations who strive to build a better community and provide help to families in need. Securing a spot in the run will grant you with an event shirt, ticket to a Dallas Mavericks game and a ticket to the post-run party which will feature live music from Saint Motel.
