January can be the perfect month to celebrate new, refreshing contributions to our world, which would be so dull without the ingenuitive minds of great creators and inventors like Thomas Edison, or artists such as Picasso. Everyone wants to leave their own special mark on the world. Make yours this creativity month.
Inspirational Quotes
You can find them crammed on classroom walls, popping up on Pinterest, and inserted in Instagram bios. Most likely, you have at least one magnetized on your fridge. A quick Google search will provide more than enough inspirational quotes one could ever need. This time, don’t just read the quote and forget a few minutes later. Let it sink in and follow its advice.
Take a Hike
Who doesn’t love to spend a calm afternoon walking among the trees, a breeze and falling leaves, soaking up the beauty of the great outdoors? Nature has been an inspiration for many great artists, like Vincent Van Gogh. If you love to paint or draw, Rose Park and Town Park contain lovely trails, perfect for a nice afternoon stroll to find a muse.
Research A Role Model
Whether it be Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi or a modern celebrity, a look into the life of someone who motivates you to make a difference can prove to be beneficial. Sit down, read a book about them and see where it takes you.
Art
Making and viewing art can be a fascinating experience. If you delight in doodling, adopt an adult coloring book. Work with watercolors. Crochet a sweater. Find an art form and create.
Visit A Museum
Art, science and history museums display the products of the most intuitive minds in history. Museums provide magnificent place to venture for inspiration. New ideas spring from old creations, just elaborated and changed. Use the examples in a museum to form some ideas of your own. The DFW area has to many museums to offer, such as the Kimbell Art Museum. While you may not fancy the drive up to Fort Worth, it would absolutely be worth going. Don’t forget to stop for lunch at one of the incredible restaurants in the area.
Cooking
Creating and trying out new recipes can be exciting when it turns out well. Not only can experimenting in the kitchen satisfy your hunger for a creative outlet, it can also bring people together. Spend some time with family or friends this week and make a batch of homemade brownies.
