As the last day of school inches closer, classes will become more relaxed and allow more time for enjoying the time out of school rather than studying for tests and completing projects. Take advantage of that extra time and check out this list of events you can participate in during the month of May, 2016.
Star Wars Day
May the Fourth be with you on May 4. Have a movie-watching party with friends who share a love for the sci-fi movie franchise, complete with themed treats and nerdy shirts. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in the beginning of April, so you can have a marathon complete with all of the films.
Fort Worth Taco Fest
On May 7, the city will host a festival to celebrate Hispanic culture. Vendors and Restaurants – 20 to be exact – will gather at Panther Island pavilion to serve the public with Tacos. Gather a group of friends and buy a $30 ticket to spend the day eating tacos, listening to live music and more.
Mother’s Day
Make sure to show your appreciation for the women who have cared for you on May 8th. Whether it be your mom, grandmother or another important woman in your life, do something special for them – they deserve it.

Following her recent release of Lemonade, Queen Bey will perform at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. To see her showcase her new songs, like Sorry and Don’t Hurt Yourself, along with old classics, like Halo and Drunk in Love, grab tickets for the May 9 concert.
Friday the 13th
Prepare for this superstition-fueled holiday by loading up on scary movies to watch with friends. Additionally, some haunted houses open especially for the happenstance date, so research which one you and friends would enjoy attending most.
Grapevine Main Street Fest
From May 20 to May 22, the city of Grapevine will host a festival for anyone interested. The event will feature a lineup of vendors as well as carnival rides, games and food. Tickets for the carnival start at $7 for adults and children and $5 for seniors.
