Wow, what an adventure it has been. I can’t believe that senior year has gone by this fast, it seems like just yesterday I was walking into Legacy for the first time. Being a part of organizations in high school was the right thing to do. They have definitely been a positive experience not only for the friends I made but for my future as well.
My freshman year, before I was involved in Newspaper, I had a hard time writing essays. But ever since joining Newspaper, I don’t think I’ve gotten lower than an A on an essay. Learning about commas from Mallett in Newspaper meetings seemed boring to me, but little did I know it was strengthening my writing. When I first joined, I only knew a couple of people and didn’t think I would fit in with the “team”. But in reality I fit right in and I’m so glad that I joined.
Then comes Student Council, a group of students dedicated to leading the school. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be outgoing enough to voice my opinion, but getting close with all the people in Student Council changed that. Not only do I feel more confident in my speaking abilities and decision making skills but I also feel like I became a better person. By raising money for people in need and seeing their reactions after giving it to them has made me realize how even something very little can go a long way.
High school has been one heck of a journey. It will really be different not being able to see all the great teachers and friends that I’ve spent the last four years with, but we have to move on and continue with our lives at some point. While I don’t exactly know what I want to do in life, I do know that the four years I’ve spent in high school will help me nonetheless.
