Felicity Veliz gives four ways to combat procrastination during finals week

Procrastination: it kills everyone. With the holidays right around the corner, finals might be the last thing we want to study for. The tips listed below may be able to help push through those last few days before break.

1. Turn Your Phone Off
Of all the advice, this will be one of the hardest. We all find a way to go back to our phones in some point while doing homework, studying or running an important errand whether that be to check our messages or log onto social media. Just try turning it off for an hour or two. You’d be surprised by how much you’d get done.

2. Think Positive

If we just think negatively about studying, we probably won’t get anything done. Let the things ahead motivate you to get things done now rather than worrying about it later.

3. Eat
A snack won’t kill anyone. Eating a quick snack may even wake you up just enough to get things done. A Penn State study actually proved chewing the same type of gum while you study and take a test may improve your scores.

4. Study Ahead of Time
I know most of us won’t do this, but trust me, it helps. Even if you’re just studying for your elective classes, studying ahead will lessen the amount of stress you’ll have before the break.
