With a 4-0 win against Summit on April 2, varsity baseball currently stands in a three way tie for first place in district. Legacy’s next game against three-way-tie competitor Red Oak will be on Tuesday, April 11. This can easily be the biggest game of the year for the team, and they continue to prepare for big games like these.
“This game is huge for us,” junior and third baseman David Vargas said. ”It can determine whether or not we finish with the best record in our district.”
All the hard work the team has done this whole season in afternoon practices and off-season training will be put to the biggest test they’ve had all year in this next Red Oak game.
“I’m looking to contribute to the team by doing my job at third base, by making all the plays I can and by getting on base when I get my at-bats,” Vargas said. “Everyone doing their job when it’s needed is going to be vital to picking up the win.”
One of the most focal points the team has been preached about this year is to play together as a unit and pick each other up.
“I think the team will win because of all the hard work that we put in everyday,” Vargas said. “We have been on a big winning streak lately, and we are looking to keeping it going by getting the win.”
