Fantasy football is finally here. After seeming like an eternity, the NFL offseason is coming to an end, and it’s time to know who to pick in your upcoming drafts. There are several special players right now in the NFL with plenty of offenses loaded with talent, but these are the top five players to look at when you are selecting your first draft pick.
1) David Johnson
Johnson is arguably the best running back in the league due to the way he catches passes in the backfield and explodes for big yard gains. Johnson is considered 1A at the running back position, just ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell and Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott. Because Johnson can catch so many passes, you get a dual-threat player that puts up monster stats, especially if you are in a points per possession (PPR) league.
2) Le’Veon Bell
Bell is also considered by many to be the best running back in the league, or at least top three at the position. The way Bell has patience when waiting for a lane to open up is beyond anything anyone has ever seen. He sometimes comes to a complete stop waiting for his lead blocker to get ahead and lead him to several yards. Bell will put up virtually the same amount of fantasy points as David Johnson and is another excellent pick to have.
3) Antonio Brown
Whether he’s blowing past a defender for a touchdown or making defenses look stupid trying to cover him, Antonio Brown is one of the most dynamic players in the league. His supreme route running gives the former 2010 sixth round draft pick an advantage making him arguably the best receiver in the NFL. He undoubtedly will finish top five in receptions, touchdowns and receiving yards. Brown does it all on the field and will give you high numbers all season.
4) Julio Jones
Julio Jones might be the biggest and strongest receiver in the league. With a top 5 quarterback in Matt Ryan throwing to him every down, this duo will put up gaudy numbers every week, giving Julio a strong case for being the best receiver in the NFL. He should finish in the top categories in receiving yards and receptions.
5) Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell is a home-run type receiver, meaning that he can explode off a slant route for 80 yards and a touchdown at any moment. With all the touchdowns and yards that he puts up every year, he should be a great draft pick for anyone’s team. He can carry the load for points per possession, and since he’s such a vital asset to the New York Giants’ offense, he will most likely have the most touchdowns in the NFL this year.
