The varsity tennis team finished second in the district, beating the competitive Lake Ridge and Waxahachie. The team took their only loss to Mansfield High School early in the season.
“I was happy and surprised that we did as well as we did,” Coach Chad Redwine said. “We weren’t expecting the success we have this year just knowing what we had coming in, but the boys stepped up and did their part enough that we were successful.”
After a solid district season, Tennis moved on to playoffs. Tennis played Temple High School on October 10th for Bi-District playoffs. After defeating Temple 10-1 the team moved on to Area to play Tyler Legacy.
“Beating Temple we played really well, in order to beat them as bad as we did. On paper that one was going to be very close, so I thought we played really well to win the playoffs in that spot,” Redwine said.
The team fell to Tyler Legacy in the Area playoffs. Tennis is now in the off-season and they will be working and preparing for their spring season. Junior, Jacob Hoeth loves the spring season and is excited to compete and hopefully win the district.
“I am excited to be able to experience and compete in doubles tournaments across the area with a new doubles partner,” Hoeth said.
