Concerts offer unforgettable experiences and memories for a lifetime. Nothing beats seeing your favorite band perform your favorite song, all the while you and those around you dance and sing. However, concerts can be expensive and a long commute. Here are some reasons why attending local music events can benefit you and the artists.
1. Cheaper
Ticket prices at local music events tend to be more affordable. I’ve been to $200 concerts and enjoyed myself more at the $25 concerts. Remember, more expensive doesn’t equal a better quality concert or experience. Also, the shorter commute saves gas.
2. Smaller venues
Although possibly crammed, maneuvering around in smaller venues can be highly efficient and effortless. Smaller venues also offer a more intimate setting with your favorite artist. Singers will chat with the audience and sometimes even take pictures afterward. Unlike a big stadium, smaller venues provide feelings of community and safety.
3. New friends nearby
Concerts are such an easy place to make friends. You’re in a cramped space surrounded by people who enjoy the same music as you do. Music offers conversation topics and creates bonds between people; even better, these people live nearby! Also, finding new friends means you’ll receive new music recommendations.
4. Expand music taste
Openers offer gateways to learning about new music. Openers often sound similar to the main artist, so you’ll likely enjoy their music too.
5. Supporting smaller bands
Taking a break from mainstream bands and hearing something new provides refreshing experiences. Attending these local venues with friends gives smaller bands visibility and opportunity. Merch prices are usually a steal, so you can grab a new, cool shirt while supporting the band at the same time.
6. A healthy release of energy
The anticipation, the ambiance, the excitement of the audience, and the overall atmosphere creates a sense of connection and releases dopamine in the brain. Concerts are a great way to release energy in a healthy and fun way. Experiencing live music isn’t tangible but it exists as a memory you’ll keep forever.
