Banning books started in 1637, when America banned “New English Canaan” by Thomas Morton. Banning books allows schools to regulate the type of books students can read, and make sure the topic is culturally appropriate, contains positive content, and doesn’t offend any student that may read the book.

Emily Gandy, Staff Writer
Hi I’m Emily! I am a total coffee and Dr.Pepper lover, and will literally drink either at any time of the day. I am a huge fan of reading and spend lots of my free time with a good book and an iced coffee. I am also a big fan of hunting and fishing, which I have done for pretty much my whole life. Last but not least, I love spending time with my friends and family.
