When and where did you begin your career in education?
Education was a second career for me. I worked for Neiman Marcus for 17 years before choosing to teach. I served as a special education teacher for five years in elementary and then two years as an assistant principal at middle school followed by eight years as a high school principal, all in Fort Worth ISD.
What is the best part of this career?
I get to be around students and watch the impact that educators have in shaping their lives.
What goals do you have for your time here at Legacy?
My goal is to complete the work of Dr. Bonneau and assist the new principal in transitioning into their new role. Also, I look forward to graduating our senior class before I leave.
What is one thing you wish students here knew about you?
I wish they knew how much I care about their success. It always melts my heart when students are willing to share their hopes and dreams for the future with me.
How has the Legacy administration helped you so far?
The administrative team has helped me by doing their jobs so well. They are a committed group of hard working, caring individuals who function well as a team to support teachers, students and parents.
Where do you spend most of your time here?
I spend a lot of time on the computer, but the important time is when I am in classes getting to observe and learn with students.
What’s the hardest part about stepping into this role mid-year?
It has been frustrating not knowing every staff member and student’s names. I am learning every day. It makes me happy when people introduce themselves to me.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
I am a TCU graduate and root for the Horned Frogs 100%. My husband worked for many years at TCU and both of my degrees are from TCU. Then my son attended TCU before law school. Although I live in Benbrook with my husband who is retired, I love the Mansfield community and school district. The leadership in MISD is state of the art and supports LHS well. It’s an honor to be here at LHS and serve in the principal role.
