Reese Mallett and Lincoln Schroeder hold the homecoming crowns in 2013 during the halftime ceremony. The 2015 theme is FAMILY.

With homecoming starting early in the school year, students, who aren’t even used to school yet, have to prepare for the upcoming game.

This school year, Student Council members chose the theme “F.A.M.I.L.Y. Traditions” to prepare for homecoming activities for the week of Sept 11. The game will be held at RLA stadium at 7 p.m.

StuCo President Garrett Brantley remembers last year’s homecoming pep-rally and how much students enjoyed the event and the game.

“It was cool to see everybody hyped up,” Brantley said. “It was really nice to see that all the hard work payed off and got the whole student section pumped.”

With the previous Disney themed homecoming being cancelled because of copyright issues, a new theme was chosen by Student Council members, “F.A.M.I.L.Y. Traditions”. Started by the football team in 2014, “Forget About Me, I Love You,” has become a common phrase around Legacy. To continue the tradition, the homecoming shirts will be based on this theme.

With the new theme being set, dress up days have been changed.

Tuesday – PJ Day
Wednesday – Wacky Tacky Day
Thursday – Throw Back Thursday
Friday – Homecoming Shirt

Volleyball will also be playing on the night of homecoming, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. There will be a pep rally during 9th period on Friday to give more information to students about homecoming.
Dillon Jones, 12, is eager to dress up for one of his favorite dress up days, Pajama Day. He uses it as an excuse to wear his most comfortable clothes. While he is unsure if he will ask someone to homecoming, he knows that it will be a fun experience nonetheless.

“I don’t know if I will ask someone to homecoming but regardless, I look forward to getting to celebrate my final homecoming with my friends,” Jones said.
