Senior MB Kamryn  Blevins watches her teammates shoot and make goal after goal until the team was up 7-0 before halftime. Starting out hot seems to be a recurring theme as they have yet to lose a game going 8-0-1. Blevins believes this team has a new groove different from previous teams.

“The team chemistry has been so good on the field this year and our shape behind the ball defensively has been really solid too,” Blevins said. “We have a lot more drive than [we have had] in previous years and again the chemistry on and off the field has been a big factor.”

The team has nine seniors who played together almost all of their high school careers, and senior Tatum Krueger said the team has an edge about them and is ready to conquer their remaining opponents.

“We have started off really strong,” Krueger said. “I feel like pre-season was definitely a success for us and we can’t wait to dominate this season.”

As far as the what the team plans to accomplish, Blevins doesn’t know much about the challenges ahead, but hopes for the best.

“We want to win district and then hopefully go to state or as far as we can make it in the playoffs,” Blevins said. “And I’m not really sure how the competition looks, but if we play the way and keep focused, we will win.”

Krueger notes that the team has some things to work on, but knows persistence and determination are keys for success.

“Something I feel we need to work on is our communication on the field and keeping our energy up throughout the whole game,” Krueger said. “But we have the talent and potential to get there, we just have to stay motivated the entire season.”

Although the end of the season is months away, senior Kaylee Murray thinks that if the team improves everyday, they can accomplish anything.

“Well we have been with each other for a long time now and I think that has really helped. We want to be district champs and then make it to the state tournament,” Murray said. “We’re going to work hard every day at practice and stay focused on our that.”

The girl’s next game will be against Everman High School at 6 p.m. on Feb. 1, at Everman.
