Pancake breakfast, homecoming king and queen, soak a senior, 24-karat gold prom. Senior class president Annelise Vinson helped set up events that made the senior year memorable. Ms. Danielle Panzarella took on the role of senior class sponsor after working with student council to plan events since 2018.
Ms. Panzarella wanted to add her own touch to traditional events to keep them interesting for incoming seniors. She helped add a pancake breakfast to Senior Sunrise to encourage people to come and schedule monthly meetings to inform seniors of current and upcoming events.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to see seniors take advantage of their last year and getting involved,” Panzarella said. “I’m trying my best to make the most out of the time they have left in high school.”
Although events for the seniors took a lot of effort and planning, Panzarella never did it alone. A group of senior parents and the senior class officers from Student Council helped plan each event and ensure they ran smoothly. Vinson worked directly with Ms. Panzarella and helped co-plan events.
As president, Vinson met with prom coordinators and created fundraising opportunities with other the student council officers to construct each event. She also made posts on Instagram to advertise events and fundraising opportunities.
“My favorite part about being class president is getting to see each event come to life,” Vinson said. “Planning prom has been such a fun experience, starting by picking a venue at the beginning of the year, to now deciding on final decor options for the night.”
Ms. Panzarella planned to continue sponsoring the senior class and learning from each event to improve them for future classes.
“I’ve learned just how much goes into running an event,” Panzarella said. “It’s not just about the event itself. There are all kinds of forms and paperwork and signatures that you need and some things have to be approved. So this learning process with hopefully make next year run more smoothly.”
