The Dallas Cowboys struggled through their first 4 games. Up next on their schedule were the 0-4 Kansas City Chiefs, with first year coach Todd Haley and Matt Cassel in his first full season as a starter.
However, the Chiefs gave Dallas all they could ask for. With Cowboys holding a 20-13 lead and the Chiefs with the ball in the last minute of the fourth quarter, Matt Cassel connected with Dwayne Bowe on a 16 yard touchdown tying the score at 20. After exchanging punts in overtime, the Cowboys had the ball yet again. Quarterback Tony Romo connected with wide receiver Miles Austin on a 60 yard touchdown allowing the Cowboys to escape 26-20.
People say ‘a win is a win’. However the Dallas Cowboys 26-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs was sloppy. Yes, Tony Romo didn’t throw an interception, but more than half his yards went to Miles Austin, who hadn’t blossomed yet in the Cowboys’ offense. Austin, on the field almost every play Sunday (thanks to the Boys’ not having Roy Williams) was Romo’s go to receiver throughout the game (10 catches, 250 yards, 2 TDs). This performance finally allowed Austin to show his skill on the field.
The Cowboys’ needed to have a total dominant performance, which wasn’t what happened Sunday against the Chiefs. True the defense did a decent job, until Dwayne Bowe’s game tying score with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys are overrated. Where is the”great” offense and the “dominant” defense? Those two aren’t on the field when the Cowboys play. Like most overrated teams, the Boys’ need a wake up call sometime during the season.
