Nineteen art students competed at the state Visual Art Scholastic Event at the University of Houston-Clearlake on April 10, breaking M.I.S.D. records with 3 Gold Seal Winners and 18 superior-rated state medalists.
“All the hardwork that we did paid off,” senior Viri Guzman said. “Since it was my second year going to V.A.S.E. I was really proud of myself. I was going there to get my gold medal.”
Out of almost 25,000 pieces of art submitted, 2,100 advanced to state and 151 were selected as Gold Seal Winners. The Gold Seal pieces will travel around Texas, returning to their owners after summer break.
“I’m very proud of everybody, obviously our work speaks for itself,” art teacher David Mason said. “I’m extremely proud of the Gold Seal winners especially since they’re all seniors and all the Gold Seals in the M.I.S.D. came from Legacy.

Congrats! Are these displayed at school somewhere so we can see them?

Once again, Legacy kicked butt in the art department. Way to go!
