Senior Staff Reflections: Nadley Doerge

Newspaper is the only class I’m truly, honestly going to miss from high school. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some amazing classes these four years. But the newspaper staff is a family. I don’t know what I’d do without this family. I’ve met some of the greatest, funniest, smartest, most talented people in Newspaper. I can’t even imagine my life right now if I hadn’t taken this class.

My first year in journalism, I met the people I’d remember best in my high school years. Even though I knew a couple of them from various classes or clubs, I truly got to know who they are in this class.

Greg Uribe, you’ll be the one I remember most from this class. The way too long talks about your un-ending girl problems and your incessant need for delicious Doerge food were the things we started our friendship on.

Kyle Sipe really is the reason to never judge someone before getting to know them. He has taught me this everyday I spent with him. Starting in Journalism all I heard were horror stories (mostly from Greg and Cole) about how scary and mean he was. Even though they both knew he was a great guy underneath his tough exterior. Newspaper gave me my best friend, Mr. Sipe.

Patrick Madigan was the teddy bear that I always wanted to hug. Paddy Maddy, along with Kyle, were scary on the outside but once I got to know him, he’s really an amazingly smart man. I’ll never forget my experiences in the “man cave” with Sipe and Madigan.

Cole Christensen was the wimpiest, most pathetic, scrawny, excuse for a man ever. Even though all of those things are true, you were the best (sorry Nick) computer buddy ever. I was always thrilled to hang out next to you while working on the computer. It was however a drag that I had to give you a head scratch, back rub, or back massage every day to keep you from whining all day long.

Aaron Sakowski, I thought you were really creepy at first. Seriously, I really did, especially in English freshman year. Even though you are creepy, that’s why I love you. You’re hilarious and you don’t even mean to be. Stay creepy Sakowski. Stay. Creepy.

Nick Jimenez, I’m not going to lie, I always called you Greg in my mind. My whole sophomore year I couldn’t tell you two apart. Eventually I got it down. Don’t worry you’re never going to be Greg in my mind anymore. Stay funny, stay modest, but seriously stay funny. It’s going good for you.

Will Ritchie, the first memory I have of you is Mission: Improvable tryout where you tackled Olivia. Nothing has changed from my first impression of you. Which was: funny, but kinda scary, but still definitely really funny.

Olivia Hebert entering Newspaper was like the sun shining for the first day. Everyday I came to class she was always there with the best smile that can overturn anything bad that happened that day. She is definitely a blessing every time I got to see her sunshiny face.

Clarke Rahrig, you’re very tall and funny. I enjoyed all of our outlandish conversations. Experiencing Bronco Bowl with you was definitely interesting but still very amazingly fun. You’re one of the best contributions to the newspaper team.

Finally, Mallett when I first joined newspaper I thought you didn’t like me. At all. I was actually quite scared of you. Then I realized if I gave you cranberry orange muffins you’d love me. So it all worked out for good. You’re an amazing advisor, I’m so proud to have been in your class and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your program. Newspaper, I love you.
