The Chick-fil-A Challenge kicks off Tuesday Oct. 11 with pep rally at the restaurant at 6 p.m. The event is a spirit competition between Legacy and Mansfield High School and a fundraiser, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the schools general fund.
“Everyone should bring family, friends, or whoever to come support us this week,” senior cheerleader Alison Peterson said.
Part of the competition is raising the most money. Customers just have to tell the cashier they are from Legacy.
“It’s as simple as that. And in all honesty, you can’t go wrong with Chick-fil-A,” Peterson said.
The cheerleaders decorate Legacy’s half of the restaurant, the side with the windows and bathrooms, Monday. According to Peterson they plan to make signs, table tents, hang streamers and maybe even hang a tiger from the ceiling.
“I think we got the best spot; people automatically walk past our decorations,” Peterson said.
Both schools will receive 10% of what they earn but are fighting for the title “Chick-fil-a Challenge Champion.”
“The event is really to promote each schools’ spirit and rivalry between each other,” cheer coach Cassidy Lakota said.
The winner will be announced at the Legacy vs Mansfield game this Friday.
“Mansfield has always been a rival, and I think our school has the most spirited students. This competition should be a piece of cake,” Peterson said.
