I have three homes: my house, my best friends home and the theater. This past week I had a revelation during our lunch break for Zombie Prom rehearsal. As the cast, crew, directors and band went to go eat I lingered behind. I walked back into the theater, and sat down near the edge of the stage. I looked around and smiled. All I could think was how much I love being on stage.
Acting has truly changed my life. Before I came into Legacy I would always ask myself what I wanted to do for a living, and I never had a clue as to what I wanted to do for a career until I first walked on stage. I want to be an actor, and nothing will ever change that.
Ms. McIntyre and Mr. Ferman are the two people who have truly taught, shaped and molded me into the actor I am today. Ms. McIntyre was the one who actually got me into theater. During my freshman year I was in Ms. McIntyre’s Theater I class. One day she offered me a part in the play (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). If Ms. McIntyre had never offered me that part, I more than likely would not have pursued theater like I do today. Ms. McIntyre has been my theater teacher, and director every year that I have been at Legacy. I have never had Mr. Ferman as a teacher, but he has been my director plenty of times. Whether we are doing Improv or plays Mr. Ferman has always been there helping me and giving me advice. I never stop learning from them, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity’s that both Ms. McIntyre, and Ferman have given me.
Then I have the theater family, the people who I have met, and become good friends with through theater. We always crack jokes, and have fun together. We all connect in our own certain way with each other. I have become really close with a lot of the guys I have met this year. We all learn from each other and bond in our own ways. From having Man Talks, doing stupid things, telling stories or just making each other laugh we all have grown closer.
As I finished thinking about all the reasons I love the theater I stood up looked around, and said “Man I love this place.”
