Senior Elizabeth Kobty finds her sales for the prom chocolate fundraiser have been slower than normal this year, placing blame on obstacles that did not exist in previous years. Many seniors participate in this fundraiser because it offers a discount on prom tickets, but confusion about where to turn money has caused difficulty this year.
Each box of chocolate bars, worth $50 total, raises money for the prom and also gives sellers a $10 discount on their prom ticket. The discount only applies to the person who sold the chocolate. The confusion about where to turn in profits occurred because senior sponsor, Mrs. Shackelford, is on medical leave.
“Word isn’t getting out so well this year,” Kobty said, “since Shack [Mrs. Shackleford] is in the hospital, people are confused.”
Money for chocolates and chocolates should be turned in to Mrs. Hurst, and are due by March 1.
