Originally all MISD schools were scheduled to end the school year on June 2. However, because of the change in how long students must attend school, the district decided to release all schools on June 1. The amount of time a student must attend school used to be based on a certain amount of days, however, now they base it on the amount of hours that they students attend school.
“I think that the change provides more flexibility for the district to arrange the school calendar so that it benefits both staff and students,” Academic Associate Principal Erin Frye said.
