Based on the classic Christmas 1946 movie, theater’s winter production “It’s a Wonderful Life: Live Radio Show” will debut Dec. 8 through Dec. 10 in Legacy’s Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec 11 showing start at 2 p.m. Tickets for students retail at $5 and $7 for adults.
Set during the Great Depression, the play tells the story of businessman George Bailey, played by senior Hayden Hendrickson, who wants to see the world but struggles to leave small town Bedford Falls.
“My favorite thing about the show is probably the set,” Hendrickson said. “I like how classic it looks.”
Theater picked “It’s a Wonderful Life: Live Radio Show” because they wanted something unique and different from their past productions. During scene transitions, students like sophomore Katy Thomas will act out short commercials varying topics like buying a yearbook and future improv shows.
“[The play] was challenging at first, but it’s an interesting, new experience,” Thomas said.
