Ms. Spenser O’loughlin: A Legacy in Art
While attending Summit High School, Ms. Spenser O’loughlin decided she wanted to teach art classes after meeting her art teacher with who she remains in contact. Then, she earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and art education at UTA. She teaches Art I, Art II, and photography classes.
“I was always good at art and I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I just didn’t know when or what I wanted to teach,” Ms. O’loughlin said. “So when I got to high school I was like I’m meant to be an art teacher.”
Ms. O’loughlin enjoys many forms of art including studio art, photography, pottery and glass blowing. Her favorite art form is pottery throwing.
“Being an art teacher is the coolest job because I get to listen to cool music and introduce projects,” Ms. O’loughlin said. “I feel like instead of staying quiet we socialize and I work really hard at building relationships so that students are comforted.”
Ms. O’loughlin, or Ms. O as many students call her, enjoys the social and artistic aspects of her job most of all.
“Being an art teacher is the coolest job ever because I get to listen to really cool music and introduce projects. I feel like instead of staying quiet we socialize and I work really hard at building relationships so that they are comforted,” Ms. O’loughlin said.
