Activities To Do For Winter Break

1. Prairie Lights

Located in Grand Prairie, Prairie lights is open through New Years Eve every night of the week. During the week the hours are from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday the hours of admission are 6-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday the cost is $20 per car and Friday through Sunday the cost is $30. The drive-thru light show includes two miles of driving and four million lights.

2. Spend Time with Family and Friends

The holidays are a perfect time to spend quality time with family and friends that you may not get to visit with very often. Take the opportunity and find something fun to do that the whole family can enjoy.

3. Gaylord of Texas

Go to explore Merry Madagascar in ICE at The Gaylord Texan. You don’t have to get a room in order to go to the exhibit. You can also participate in snow tubing, decorate gingerbread houses and go to a holiday celebration dinner. Tickets and prices vary on how many events/ what events you decide to participate in.

4. Holiday at the Park at Six Flags Over Texas

Starting Nov. 26 all the way through Jan. 6 Six Flags celebrates the holidays in the park where you can participate in activities, watch shows, go sledding, see light shows and meet Santa’s reindeers. The tickets are normal price unless you want access to Santa Land which starts at $12.99.

5. Great Wolf Lodge

Located in Grapevine right across the street from The Gaylord, The Great Wolf Lodge has fun activities for all ages including a splash-filled indoor water park. Although Texas has warm weather, it’s not quite warm enough to take a dip in the pool outside and hasn’t been for awhile. If you‘re craving a refreshing swim or a thrilling slide down a waterslide then the Lodge is the place to go. The hotel also includes a magic quest game, an arcade, two spas, a teen club and seven places to grab a snack or sit down and eat.

6. Shopping and ice skating

After receiving Christmas gift cards and money from grandparents enjoy a day shopping at The Galleria in Dallas and maybe even participate in an ice skating break at the indoor circular skating rink.

7. Get Organized

Take a day or two over your break to get organized and prepared for the new year and the new semester that begins soon after students return to school. Throw away any unnecessary items, papers or trash that you have hanging around. File school papers into a binder or a expander file with labels so you can easily find the materials you’ll be soon needing. Do all of your laundry and clean up your room also. Start the year off clean, tidy and organized.

8. Big D NYE- New Year’s Eve Event at Victory Plaza

Enjoy live music, tasty food and fun fireworks at this New Year’s event in Dallas. The sixth annual event will take place in Victory Plaza on Dec. 31 from 7 PM until 1 AM. Plan your night by visiting the website for the event at www.bigdnye.com. At the site you can figure out where to park, the necessities to bring along and how much money to carry.

9. Go Volunteer

The holidays for some are not only for receiving, but also giving. Give back to your community by volunteering in some way. Mission Arlington always welcomes friendly helping hands. To volunteer call (817)-277-6620 or just show up. You could also help people out by volunteering at The Dallas Mission For Life homeless shelter. 10. Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas

Become an explorer as you go through each exhibit in the recently opened Perot Museum in Dallas. Located close to downtown Dallas right off of Interstate 35 E, the museum hosts over ten exhibit halls. Costs vary depending on how many exhibits or activities you decide to participate in.
