Mamma Mia, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, follows the life of Sophie, the bride-to-be. Her mom, Donna, and two of her mom’s best friends help prepare for the wedding, however, Sophie has other plans. She still must figure out who will walk her down the aisle, so she invites three different guys from her mom’s past to see who might be her dad.
Hamilton: An American Musical follows the real life of Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s founding fathers and first Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton is written by playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda who also starred as Hamilton in the musical. The musical follows his life from the moment he arrives in New York in 1776, through his marriage, having a child and being George Washington’s “right-hand man” during the Revolutionary War.
Teen Beach Movie, directed by Jeffrey Hornaday, follows the life of two surfing lovers, McKenzie and Brady. Everything is going great for the two until they get swept away by a dimension wave that sends them back to a real-life enactment of the film, West Side Story. To return home, the couple must set things right for the group in the 60’s film.
Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, Encanto is centered around the magical family, the Madrigals. The movie follows one of the children, Maribel, who has to deal with the conflicts of being the only child who wasn’t blessed with a special gift from the magic of the Encanto. However, she is part of the hope of the family when she discovers the magic around her family is in danger.
The Greatest Showman, directed by Michael Gracey, centers around P.T. Barnum, played by Hugh Jackman, and his desire for more for himself, his family and his company. His dream revolves around fame and publicity, from selling lottery tickets by age 12, P.T. Barnum begins a life in the show business with the outcasts of their town.
