Not all people know how to make an aesthetically pleasing and tasty meal because of their limited cooking knowledge. These five easy recipes make single serving meals that look and taste great for even the worst of chefs.
This recipe from One Dish Kitchen creates a simple but rich and creamy meal. Even without cream!
One large egg
One tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese- plus more for topping
One eighth teaspoon kosher salt
One eighth teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
One strip thick bacon
Two ounces dry spaghetti
One clove garlic- sliced
One tablespoon chopped parsley (optional for garnish)
- Prep the egg mixture: Whisk together the egg, Parmesan, salt and pepper. Set aside for later.
- Cook the bacon: In a pan over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain grease.
- Cook the pasta: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain the pasta, but save one-half cup of pasta water.
- Sauté the garlic: Return the skillet to medium heat, leaving a small amount of bacon drippings in the pan. Add the garlic and fry for one minute.
- Toss in the pasta and stir for 30 seconds. Remove from heat.
- Make the sauce: Stir in a small amount of pasta water to cool the pan skillet slightly. This will stop the egg from scrambling. Slowly pour in the egg mixture, stir constantly to create a uniform sauce.
- Adjust the consistency: Add more pasta water, a little at a time, until the sauce reaches desired thickness.
- Finish and serve: Crumble the bacon over the pasta and toss to combine. Taste and adjust if needed. Serve hot with extra Parmesan and chopped parsley.
