“What’s your favorite color?” The most common question you get asked when you meet someone new. From first days of school to first dates, everyone’s mission is to find out what color of the rainbow speaks to you the most, which can be a problem if you are torn between all the bright shades. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, or violet? There’s so many options. Here is a solid ranking of the infamous ROYGBIV for all you indecisive folks out there.
1. Red
Autumn leaves. Strawberries. Sebastian from “The Little Mermaid.” Red means different things to different people, but people mostly say red symbolizes love. At Legacy, red also symbolizes the Broncos. Love + Broncos (+Sebastian)? That equals a winner in my book.
2. Blue
Blue: a foolproof answer for anyone looking to slide under the radar. A vague answer for a vague icebreaker that leaves you so many options. Navy blue, pastel blue, turquoise. It’s entirely your choice, but for now, just say blue.
3. Violet
One word. Royalty. Back in the day, violet/purple represented royalty because of its high price. But fear not, because nowadays, you can just choose this color and pretend. For free! Granted it also might have been made from snails back then, but you’d overlook that too for a crown and a prince.
4. Yellow
Sunshine, sunflowers, sun… Well, you get the gist. If you want a color that will brighten your spirits and hurt your eyes only marginally more than any of the other colors, yellow can be a great choice.
5. Green
Growing up, kissing a frog never sounded appealing, and personally, I blame the slimy, swampy green color. The color of puke, snot and the monster under my bed, green definitely needs an acquired taste.
6. Orange
A controversial color, there’s a reason why Taylor Swift went through 11 albums before making one orange-themed. If you’re thinking about answering “orange” (and you AREN’T a University of Texas fan), I’d suggest going through the options above one more time.
7. Indigo
Indigo. A nice color? Maybe. But most importantly, a friendly reminder to always be your own person, otherwise you’ll end up like this forgotten shade. Indigo tries way too hard to be purple, and we can all tell.
