Valentine’s Day is for all the cute couples walking the halls and being all lovey-dovey and giving gifts, showing their love for one another. So, where does that leave the people without partners?
Indulge In A Self-Care Day:
While others are out treating their significant other, take yourself out on a date. Don’t worry about work, homework, or anything else for that day. Schedule yourself a spa day and take yourself out to lunch afterward. Remember that you matter. Be your own Valentine. If you don’t want to be by yourself, that’s fine too. Just remember that it’s okay to do things alone every once in a while.
Celebrate with Friends and Family:
Host a singles-only party. Get together and find activities where you can go out and celebrate with your friends, like going to the movies, cooking a delicious meal together, eating at your favorite restaurant or just spending the day together, ignoring all of the happy couples you see out in public.
Go on a Trip:
Take yourself on a trip. Find something family-friendly where you can enjoy being around the people you love, while still filling your day with something important and fun. Who thinks it’s fun to sit in their room and scroll through social media and waste their day, when they could be out doing something that they will remember?
Volunteering Somewhere:
Doing community service on Valentine’s Day creates a positive impact on your community, while giving you the sense of accomplishment that you did something good for other people. Whether you’re helping out at an animal shelter or supporting something close to you, giving back is a fulfilling way to spend the day.
Bark at Couples at the Park (Satire):
If you feel upset about being single on Valentine’s Day among the happy couples, playing a practical joke and disturbing their perfect day or a minute can be a good way to express your emotions. Get some fresh air by going outside to a public space like a park and look for affectionate couples. Holding hands? Woof. Kissing? Woof. Skipping? Woof. If you see a couple that looks too happy? Woof. This way, you get the affirmation you need on Valentine’s Day.
Although some people aren’t able to participate in Valentine’s Day activities, everyone needs an excuse every once and a while to take a day for themselves and love themselves. Plus, who doesn’t love spending money on themselves and having a reason to do so?
