Stuffing Easter eggs with small compliments and encouraging notes, juniors Cheyenna James and Marlecia Leblanc prepares with the Teen Leadership II class for Bring Others Love Daily (BOLD) week. Dress up days and activities this week will help spread encouragement for students.
BOLD week runs April 10-13 and includes many small acts of kindness organized by Teen II Class and student council. The goal for this week is to recognize those who do good works all the time that don’t get recognized on a normal basis.
“Students are going to be finding little eggs around the building for sure, and some will have notes on their cars,” Leblanc said. “Also, the people who purchased bold week shirts, you will see a lot of those.”
The idea of BOLD week originated in another state where a group of students gathered together and recognized an officer that always helped other people and never got thanked. The students organized a week long thank you full of ways to encourage the officer. The group made a video of recognizing the officer outside, and now, schools around America have their own version of BOLD week.
“It definitely will mean a lot because I feel like students and teachers that don’t get recognition,” Leblanc said. “I feel like they will appreciate it.”
Throughout the week, students and staff will be recognized for the good works that they do. Students in charge of the week will look for people who stand out for good character and actions they do.
“We look for stuff like integrity, seeing people being nice to other students around campus — just recognizing those students who don’t get that recognition,” Leblanc said.
The Teen Leadership II class stuffed eggs full of encouraging notes and compliments and will hide them around the school for students and staff to find. Along with the eggs they made, notes will be placed on cars in the parking lot in hopes to encourage those who read them.
“It’s a week about bringing others love, meaning everyone deserves love even if they have no relation to you,” James said. “Life is too short not to love someone or care about others.”
