With the season swiftly coming to a start, Coach Mayfield and the girls’ softball team practice fourth and eighth period every day of the week. Three days of the week contain conditioning and other exercises on the football field and track, while the two other days are inside the weight room.
“After having such a successful season last year, I hope our team can advance even farther to state,” Mayfield said.
During the season, their practice goes past the fourth and eighth period of sessions, lasting until 4:45 every day, except Sundays. After being Bi-District Champions last year, several players return, to go all the way to state, which is the same week as the end of year final exams.
“Our girls are looking good [during practice], so I have big hopes for them,” Mayfield said.
Since returning from the winter break, the team has worked on throwing the most to warm up for the first game January 22.
