Bronco Varsity basketball will have a chance to showcase their talent in this Thursday’s Spring Creek Tournament, held at Legacy’s gym. The tournament will start at 9 a.m., but all MISD students can attend with the purchase of a $1.00 ticket found in the library.
“Any time you have an energetic, loud gym, I think it sometimes motivates [players] to play a little bit better, said Varsity head coach Cornelius Mitchell. “Athletics is about energy, especially positive.”
All student ticket proceeds will be donated to Toys for Tots. For Coach Mitchell, this gives his team an opportunity to learn important life values outside the basketball court.
“There are some kids who may not be as fortunate as our kids at our school and the players on our team,” said Coach Mitchell. “We try to teach servanthood at an early age, and any time we got a chance to do something for somebody else, you ought to take the opportunity to do it.”
