Top 6 Ways to Prepare for Mother’s Day

Top 6 Ways to Prepare for Mothers Day

This year, Mother’s Day falls on May 11. Here’s a list of things to do to make sure your mother gets to enjoy the best day possible without any embarrassing mishaps:

Plan Ahead
Do not wait until May 10 to figure out what you are going to surprise her with. She probably doesn’t expect you to buy her a $80 necklace from James Avery, but getting her something small and sweet shows that you at least put some thought into it. Find a great place to hide her gift because moms tend to be experts at finding hidden things.

Food
She cooks food for the entire family most of the time, so, for this one day, get her the food. Cook her breakfast in bed but make sure it’s complete with orange juice and a flower. For dinner, the whole family can go out to a fun restaurant, such as Babe’s Chicken Dinner House.

Flowers
Flowers are a must for this particular day. Moms love seeing these bright, scented plants in their presence; so if you can’t think of anything other than to get her flowers, try throwing in a sincere card in there as well.  Do not, under any circumstance, get her flowers that look like they are dying. That just says: “I love you a lot, but not enough to pay for healthy, lively flowers.” However, if buying flowers isn’t exactly your forte, Edible Arrangements has some great fruit bouquets that taste and look outstanding.

Do Her Duties
Cooking, cleaning, laundry and babysitting are only a few of the jobs that she does every day. Allow her to have a day off from all the craziness by showing your appreciation for her. This could also teach you a few things as well, such as how to sort laundry. It’ll give you an idea of what she puts up with every day.

Coupon Books
Cheesy, yes, but giving her a free back massage might just put her in a better mood. Coupons for cleaning the house, cooking dinner, maybe even one for shuttling around younger siblings to soccer practice are always good. Whether she will use these coupons or not, you can never go wrong with a nice way of saying “I want to do this for you”. It will surely make her happy knowing how much you care.

Show Her Some Love
This is her day. Sit her down and tell her how much you truly care about her. Even if you don’t buy her flowers, a sentimental card or a fancy necklace, your words will be more powerful. All she wants in life is to make her family happy and by telling her how great of a job she’s doing, that’s all the happiness she could really ask for.

Kenzie Cowan, Staff Writer
Hey, it’s Kenzie! I have blonde hair with bright blue eyes, and I am seventeen years old. I’m the type of person that will find anything to laugh about. Even if me or the people around me are having a bad day. I play the trumpet in the school’s band, and I love to write as well as go roller skating. Those three things don’t have much in common, but they describe who I am perfectly. I also love people who will get out there and be crazy with me. I like to make everyday count as if it were my last. This year I hope to have the best time ever being involved in newspaper. I’m really looking forward to it! [email protected]
