This year, Mother’s Day falls on May 11. Here’s a list of things to do to make sure your mother gets to enjoy the best day possible without any embarrassing mishaps:

Plan Ahead
Do not wait until May 10 to figure out what you are going to surprise her with. She probably doesn’t expect you to buy her a $80 necklace from James Avery, but getting her something small and sweet shows that you at least put some thought into it. Find a great place to hide her gift because moms tend to be experts at finding hidden things.

Food
She cooks food for the entire family most of the time, so, for this one day, get her the food. Cook her breakfast in bed but make sure it’s complete with orange juice and a flower. For dinner, the whole family can go out to a fun restaurant, such as Babe’s Chicken Dinner House.

Flowers
Flowers are a must for this particular day. Moms love seeing these bright, scented plants in their presence; so if you can’t think of anything other than to get her flowers, try throwing in a sincere card in there as well.  Do not, under any circumstance, get her flowers that look like they are dying.
