7 Things To Do: January 2016

As the new year begins, a few new resolutions may be on your list. If that list contains something along the lines of learning more, attending more concerts and shows or just getting out more in general, take a look at these events happening this month in the DFW area to get started on those resolutions.

Anne Frank: A History For Today
The Dallas Holocaust Museum will be opening a new exhibit on Jan. 14th, focusing on Anne Frank and her family’s experience during the Nazi’s rule over Germany. The museum also features other exhibits, such as The Core and a Garden of Remembrance. Take the time to visit the museum and learn more about what victims of the Holocaust went through, tickets cost $8 for students.

Panther Island Ice Skating
Coyote Drive-In features a great atmosphere for watching movies with family and friends all year-round. But only now through Jan. 18th with you have the pleasure of ice-skating at the drive-in. A fun time of skating at Panther Island costs $11, and a discounted price of $9 a person can be offered to a group of 15 or more, but must be reserved in advance.

City and Colour
The House of Blues in Dallas will be hosting this group on Jan. 21st, where they will perform pieces from their new album, If I Should Go Before You. You may know lead singer Dallas Green from their hit “The Girl”, but you’ll fall in love with him again when you hear “Lover Come Back”. To attend this concert, click here.

Shaping Sound
So You Think You Can Dance’s Travis Wall created Shaping Sound Dance Company, which then went on to have its own reality show, All The Right Moves. At Bass Hall on Jan. 27th you can see this dance company perform a “jaw-dropping” show, complete with multiple styles of dance and music genres. The show’s choreography comes from the great minds of Emmy Award-nominated choreographers Travis Wall and the co-founders of Shaping Sound, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance and Kyle Robinson. Stars Game
The Dallas Stars have five home games throughout the month of January, which include matches with the Jets, Wild, Oilers, Avalanche and Flames. To see one, or all, of these hockey games at American Airlines Center, click here.

Seven Guitars
Starting Jan. 28th, Jubilee Theatre will be showing a play about the life of African-Americans in twentieth-century Pittsburgh. To see this show, get tickets for a date between Jan. 28 and Feb. 28. here.

Harlem Globetrotters
This famous basketball team will be visiting Dallas on Jan. 30th and 31st, showcasing its excellent trick-shots. For the chance to see this historically admired team of talented players at American Airlines Center, get tickets here.
