March includes Easter, Spring Break, March Madness and much more. Take a look at this list to decide what you want to do this month.
Free Prom Closet
If you need to find a prom dress, accessories or shoes, but lack the money needed for those items, take time to check out the St. Andrew Prom Closet on one of their shopping days. They will open their doors on March 1 through March 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on March 5 from 9 a.m. to noon to any girls who need to find the perfect look. All items will be free of charge and sold at the church in Plano.
Yoga on the Bridge
Join yoga instructors Jennifer Lawson, Samantha Martin and Molly Reid while they lead the largest outdoor yoga practice in Dallas, right under the center arch of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. This event will take place on March 5 from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. and will include participants of all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Tickets cost $10, but participants can also donate money toward the Trinity Commons Foundation to support their goal of turning Trinity River Corridor into “Dallas’ Central Park’.
Enjoy Spring Break
During the time off from school, you can take a road trip with friends or family, visit a museum or simply relax and watch movies at home. Regardless of your plans for the break, try to make the most out of the time you don’t have to do homework or wake up earlier than you’d like to. From March 14 to 18, sleep in and enjoy Spring Break.
Troye Sivan
This new artist will perform at the House of Blues Dallas for his Blue Neighbourhood Tour on March 16. Sivan’s music provides an ethereal atmosphere for the audience and can be enjoyable for people who like interesting music that cannot be compared to many other artists. Get tickets to see him perform songs from his new album, such as WILD, BITE and YOUTH.
AIDS Walk
A 5K to raise money and awareness for people affected by AIDS and HIV will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 26. Participants must raise $25 to register for the 5K, which will go to support The Afiya Center as well as provide services during the event. This year’s theme of “Supporting The Future” focuses on education to prevent AIDS and HIV, and the walk will begin and end at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.
Dallas Symphony Orchestra
At UNT’s Murchison Performing Arts Center on March 20, Dallas Symphony Orchestra will perform iconic film scores composed by John Williams. This includes music from Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and more. Get tickets to see this performance for $19 here, or $9 for UNT students.
Questival
Said to be the “best, craziest, most delirious 24 hours” you will ever experience, Questival hosts multiple groups of two to six people as they complete outdoor tasks, such as volunteering at an animal shelter, building a campfire without a lighter, hiking a mountain and much more throughout your state during the day. Participants compete for prizes, trips and more, but reviews say that the experience will last a lifetime regardless of your winnings. Tickets cost $33 until March 11, when they raise to $36, or $15 for children. The price of the ticket provides you with a backpack full of gear and a great experience for all who love adventure.
