7 Things I Wish I Would’ve Known

Oh freshman year. I remember just like it was yesterday. The stress and anxiety in adjusting to high school life was overwhelming. Although freshman year was great, there’s still a few things I wish I would’ve taken advantage of. Here’s a list of things I would’ve done freshman year.

Take High School Serious- I didn’t think that this one was necessary. But as time slowly went through high school, I’ve come to understand every year counts. Don’t let your grades slip because of procrastination or laziness. Be consistent.

Have School Spirit- I think I would’ve enjoyed freshman year more if I did this. Don’t be afraid to be proud of where you come from. Having school spirit is what makes high school great. It’s also a good way to meet new people and know more about the school.

Ask questions- I can’t stress this enough. Because I was too scared to sound dumb, I never asked questions about a problem I didn’t understand. Whatever the reason may be, do not hesitate to ask questions about work in class. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

Be involved- Even if it means trying new things, being involved in extracurricular activities is the easiest way to meet new people. Freshman year is the year to test where you will fit in. Take advantage of it while it’s here.

Buying a yearbook- I recommend buying a yearbook each year of high school. Although they may be expensive, yearbooks are the only things you’ll continue to look back on throughout the rest of your life. Not only will they last, but ours are award-winning as well.

Live in the moment- I feel like I rushed more through high school rather than enjoying it. Remember that you only go through high school once. Although it may be stressful, enjoy it.
