The Varsity girls basketball team jog to their half of the court and goes through their warm-ups before their match against Flower Mound. The game was predicted to be close and the teams are toe-to-toe all game exchanging buckets each time down the court.
“Nice layup Sophie,” a fan exclaims from the stands as she lays the ball right over the front rim and falls smoothly through the net.
The Broncos, down by 11, try to make their comeback. The players surround the coach in the huddle during a timeout and strategize defensive sets and traps that the team could throw at Flower Mound.
A parent from the stands yell at the referees for making a questionable shooting foul call against the Broncos, sending a Flower Mound player to the free throw line to shoot two crucial free throws.
“Come on ref, that’s horrible!” yells a parent.
The team cut the lead to single digits, but Flower Mound was relentless with their scoring and full-court traps on defense. The Broncos start getting frustrated, and the game was over before the team could complete their comeback. The final buzzer sounds off, and the team shakes off the loss. There will be more games in the future, so they keep their heads up, ready to move on.
