The JV football team completed their season with a 1-8-1 record. Despite the losing record, Coach Rahn Smith believed the team performed better than the box scores as players began learning their role on the team.
“JV year for athletes is always about getting experience and developing,” Smith said. “We certainly could have played better at times to improve our record. Many games were decided on turnovers or missed assignments, things we control.”
During the offseason, players participated in workouts during the football class period to prepare for the upcoming season. Sophomore Nathan Hanes played outside linebacker for the JV team and entered the offseason focused and ready to improve.
“My main goal for this season was to help the team to the best of my ability and become a better player,” Hanes said. “I have been mainly focusing on strength training, eating right and lifting frequently to improve. With the amount of effort I gave, I’m happy with my results and improvements.”
