After seven AP classes, one from every subject, I found my favorite study resources for each one. While not everyone studies (even though you should), these resources also serve as helpful guides when completing various assignments. From history and English to math and science, these are the best resources for AP classes.
1) Fiveable
Fiveable offers resources for every AP class available and for SAT and ACT preparation. They align all their study guides and practice questions with the College Board unit number, making it easy to find information for any assignment. While they offer a subscription for unlimited access, they also provide two free accessible guides each day. I love to use this source for my history classes.
2) Khan Academy
Khan Academy provides tools for all subject areas; I recommend their math and science guides the most. They also align their units with the College Board and break each unit into individual topics, which is helpful for gaining specific practice for areas of struggle. I often go to Khan Academy to study for AP Biology.
While Garden of English is specific to one subject, it provides videos that help expand on the basics of AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition topics. The videos are not sorted into College Board unit numbers, but they do describe the topic they teach about, which helps students gain further knowledge of topics they struggle with.
Heimler’s History offers great videos for all the AP history classes. The videos are short and Heimler talks fast, so it is easy to stay engaged in the topics. He also does live review sessions for each course prior to the exam. Heimler’s videos are also labeled by the AP unit number, for your studying convenience. If you’re ready to get your brain cows milked, I recommend looking through Heimler’s videos for AP history classes.
AP Daily Videos offer another AP teacher’s perspective on AP topics. Sometimes, it’s helpful to hear information from another teacher to fully understand it. Because they are associated with College Board, all of the topics align with the unit numbers, and each topic often has multiple videos that go with the same content at different levels. These videos can be accessed through a College Board account or on YouTube.
6) Knowt
Knowt offers resources for every AP exam with units labeled according to the College Board criteria and practice problems for specific areas of struggle. They also have a countdown for each exam on their website, which helps students pace themselves when studying.
7) Fiveable
Yes, again. I really love it and highly recommend it. Fiveable offers summaries of the history AMSCO books with all the main points you need to know for the exam and that teachers will test you on. If you’re procrastinating, read Fivable instead of the AMSCO to save some time.
If you can not find resources that will help you, I highly recommend asking your teacher. They can provide you with great information or resources to help you if you struggle with a specific area of the class or content. AP Progress Checks also help you analyze the areas you lack the most strength in, so take advantage of that information to study properly for AP exams and classes.
