Throwing weights around, dragging weight across the turf and pushing themselves to be better. It’s the offseason for football right now and the Broncos work each day to have a great 2026 season.
“Our new coach has brought everyone together,” junior Aisten Randall said. “We spend a lot of extra time together now and it’s been helping us get bigger, stronger and faster. It’s everything that we need that we haven’t had before.”
This offseason, the team often works out twice a day to prepare for the season. This adjustment from just one a day last offseason leads to improvements in training.
“Since we’ve been working out more, we’ve shown more intensity, been more compliant and are giving more effort,” Randall said. “We make sure we produce the most we can every day.”
New Head Coach Courtney Allen changed the culture at Legacy. He said athletes have shown good progress in doing so.
“The athletes have been showing up on time and holding each other accountable,” Coach Allen said. “Those things are a really big part of the culture we want here; we want to develop a culture of accountability and effort.”
Most schools, including Legacy, wear their team’s logo while working out. However, Coach Allen makes everyone wear white shirts instead.
“For me, it’s a matter of pride,” Coach Allen said. “You have to earn the right to be a football player for Legacy High School; it’s not a privilege. So the guys are going to wear the white shirts until I feel like the Bronco logo means something to them.”
The athletes say they feel a difference in the new style of coaching. It’s changed the way they perform and exert their effort either in the weight room or on the field.
“I think he coaches like a college coach,” junior Brody Cappelletti said. “He’s preparing us not just for our season, but for our future’s whether we’re athletes or not.”
The players’ mentalities are different this season. They are ready to play any team that comes at them this season.
“We’re going to go against some big teams, but we aren’t scared of anyone,” Randall said. “We’re going to go out there and execute no matter what, that’s what we do.”
