Pink Fest , a celebrated tradition created by Teen Leadership, has undergone changes every year since the beginning. This year, Pink Fest will not incorporate the 3-day walk as its final event but host one of its own at Legacy’s track.
Because of an increased student interest in the 3-day walk, there would not be enough required adults per child. For every adult on a 3-day team the organization allows two students to participate.
After brainstorming ideas in class, including a walk around the community, Dena Schimming and volunteers decided to host an 8-hour walk around the track on Oct. 24.
“The 3-day is a blast, it’s so much fun you forget how hard you’re working,” Mrs. Schimming said. “We want this to be fun but life changing and memorable.”
Participates create their own teams of eight, consisting of at least two people from Legacy. After registering, teams must raise $50 per person in order to participate in the walk.
“I think doing a walk at the school is going to bring the community together,” senior class president Aaron St. John said. “It will show how many people at the school actually do care about breast cancer.”
