Konnar Hunter welcomes the potential members of her club with a smile and question.
“Why are you here Will?”
“Because I get tired going up the stairs.”
Fit Happens began as an idea suggested by Konnar Hunter and Madi Ward to educate and encourage students to stay in shape. Mrs. Bonneau agreed to sponsor the club and immediately suggested the name, understanding the pun, but was more concerned with student participation.
“I think being active in general is important,” Mrs. Bonneau said, “but it doesn’t get enough focus.”
Planned events, including fun runs and open gym games were suggested as activities for member participation.
“I don’t want people to grow up with arthritis in their thumbs from texting and videogames,” Mrs. Bonneau said.
No prerequisites are required for joining Fit Happens. Membership is open toward anyone willing to better themselves physically.
“I just want people to start moving and get off their couch,” Mrs. Bonneau said.
According to Konnar Hunter, working out is easier when others are present for support.
“I’m here to help others,” Hunter said. “But I also want others to show me how to better myself.”
