No Shave November’s origins are fuzzy at best. However, the celebration is widely believed to have orginated in Melbourne, Australia as a health movement for men. Inspired by the efforts of women promoting breast cancer awareness, a group of men decided to create their own cause.
Senior Marcus Miller also believes No Shave November was started to raise awareness for men’s health problems. Students throughout the school now participate in this month’s celebration, letting their facial hair continue to grow.
Marcus Miller, 12
“I’m supporting awareness for men’s health problems. It’s very easy just to not shave. I do it anyways, not shave.”
Tyler Smolovik, 12
“I’ve never actually grown my facial hair out so it just gives me an excuse to do it. It’s just a month without shaving, I’m sure I can last. I have no idea how long my hair will grow, it’s patchy so it won’t really look great. I wouldn’t say I’m excited. No shave November is not really a big deal for me—it’s just something I do.”
Madison Davis, 11
“I personsally don’t like shaving, and it’s the best reason to be lazy and not shave. I usually shave my facial hair once a week because it can get to be pretty bad. I’m forgetful so if I shave, it will be an accident. Whether or not I’ll still be found attractive depends on the person. A beard is a beard.”
Brandon Loredo, 11
“I started because someone invited me to attend on Facebook. My mom got mad at me, and she paid me $10 to shave off my facial hair. I shaved, but did it before November started and am now participating in No Shave November.”
Avery Burgess, 11
“I started No Shave November when people told me about it, and I just decided to do it. I wanted to see how my facial hair would look after growing it out for a month.”

I think that this is a fairly interesting article. And quite frankly, any reason to not shave is a good enough reason for me 😀
