Students participated in the Imagine No Violence art competition on Thursday, May 3. The exhibition featured art focusing on the prevention of bullying and other abuse. This year’s theme was “It’s Not Okay.”
Art teacher Amy Veselka is proud of the efforts made by her artists.
“It made students more aware that there are real issues and that we can make better decisions.” Ms. Veselka said.
Imagine No Violence was founded in 2001 by Safe City Fort Worth. Their goal is to help make the Tarrant County area the safest major metropolitan region in the United States. Each year over 25,000 students from North Texas participate.
Sophomore Paola Roberts entered her piece “Together We Can” to the competition. Her artwork featured holding hands overlaid on top of newspaper articles of current events.
“It showed wholeness,” Roberts said. “I thought it wasn’t anything violent, very relaxing, but yet had a stern message.”
