Practicing throughout the entire summer, junior Josh Hogue shows up to tennis tryouts trying to impress the coaches. He’s ready to show off his newly learned technique, the forehand swing. With the new season starting, Hogue also tries to stay focused on helping his teammates and training himself to be a better player.
“It’s fun to get prepared for the season and it’s good to see everyone,” Hogue said. “It’s good to be able to up my game and hit with the big guys.”
Lisa Osborn joins the team as the new assistant coach with Chad Dozier. With experience from coaching at the Arlington Tennis Center, she plans on helping the team throughout the year.
“I am excited to start off the year with the tennis team,” Osborn said. “We have lots of good kids and lots of good attitudes.”
Legacy tennis took on the Ennis tennis team on August 28th to get familiar with the new team. Although Legacy ended up winning only two matches, they became closer friends which will help them in their next match.
Dillon Jones, senior, has been a part of the tennis team for all four years of high school and has been awarded third place in district each year. As a team captain, Jones finds it satisfying to keep the team on task and motivate them on a daily basis.
“It is rewarding knowing that I’m the leader of the team,” Jones said. “I have full expectations of getting second place in district this year.”
