After successfully hosting a summer day camp for the teachers’ children, National Honor Society has initiated Bright Minds Parents’ Night Out. NHS will host this program once a month to give parents a night off. Junior Dezirae Rodriguez, NHS member and committee head for the program, believes parents’ night out represents the values NHS encompasses.
“NHS is all about giving back to the community,” Rodriguez said. “Parents’ night out offers us a chance to step up and show our appreciation to the parents of the community for being there for us all the time. This is our way of saying thanks and giving them a night off to relax and enjoy.”
A different parents’ night out theme will be set each month. The program will take place in the cafeteria from 6-11 p.m. After checking in, children will participate in educational activities that include arts, crafts, movies, music and gym time that all revolve around the theme.
“The parents’ night out committee puts in a lot of effort into planning a fun night that the kids can make memories at, and we hope they want to come back,” Rodriguez said.
The remaining parents’ night out dates includes Nov. 11, Dec. 2, Jan. 27, Feb. 17, and April 21. It costs $25 for one child and $20 for each additional child. The price includes one provided snack.
“Parents’ night out is a great idea,” Rodriguez said. “From a financial standpoint, it is cheaper than a babysitter, and most importantly parents can have a sense of security knowing that their child is being cared for.”
The money raised from parents’ night out benefits the NHS field trip in the making. A portion of the money will also go toward local charities. Senior NHS member Cassidy Regan believes that parents’ night out benefits the community.
“I think it’s good that we are giving back to the community,” Regan said.

This seems like a great idea, however it can get really pricy when you have a lot of kids.
I have 2 siblings, including myself, so that would already costs $65
