The softball team finished the regular season second in the district with a 22-6 overall record and a 13-1 district record. The team beat South Hills High School in the first round of playoffs in the first two games of a three-game series. Coach Amie Prater and the team approach each playoff game with a must-win mentality.
“It’s a win and move on. If you don’t, you’re done, so you’ve got to take care of business,” Coach Prater said. “Every single game you have to look at it like this could be it and you can’t play scared, you can’t play tight, can’t play nervous. You just gotta put your foot on the gas and go and you gotta give everything you have.”
This season marks Legacy’s 14th straight postseason appearance. The team takes on Aledo in a three-game series beginning at 3 p.m. on May 6 at Aledo High School. Game two will take place at 11 a.m. on May 7. If needed, game three will directly follow game two.
“Playoffs are a whole different animal,” Coach Prater said. “Anybody can win on any day. So if you take anybody lightly or you don’t show up to play, anything can happen, it’s the playoffs. That’s part of it. Everybody loves the Cinderella story, the underdog.”
