Varsity Softball wins district undefeated with a 12-0 record in district play and huge wins of 17-0 against North Crowley, and 10-0 against Mansfield. The Broncos look to carry this momentum to make a deep run in the playoffs.
“I’m very proud of this team,” Assistant Coach Cade Oliver said. “We really haven’t had a bad game this season, our outfield is solid, our infield is pretty stout, so it looks good for us so far in the season.”
Sophomore Katelyn Moreaux’s experience with the team this season goes further than the performances, but more importantly, it is about how close the team is.
“I’m really happy with this team and the friends I’ve become closer with,” Moreaux said. “Throughout the whole season, everyone just became more connected, and I hope we keep this up for playoffs.”
Only giving up nine runs all season in district play, the team gains assurance of their talents and looks to make a statement with that confidence in upcoming games.
“The confidence that this team has is amazing,” Moreaux said. “I feel I’m playing really well and the rest of the team seems ready as can be for the playoffs now.”
Not everything was smooth sailing for the Broncos, but with the right rotation by the coaches, the team found the formula for success.
“It’s really cool to watch players in a different element,” Coach Oliver said. “We had to move some people around, which ended up creating the perfect groove, so I’m really proud of this group.”
Softball is projected to play Bryon Nelson High School in the first round of playoffs. Coach Oliver is excited about the challenge ahead.
“We’ve beaten them several times,” Coach Oliver said. “They’re loud, pretty energetic, but we can shut them down pretty quick, and this team will definitely prove they’re not a team to be messed with.”
